Dr Charles Walden, MD, Sedalia MO, 1918

I am trying to find bio information on African American Charles Walden, MD, who died in Sedalia MO in 1918. I know that he was born a slave in Pike County MO in 1848 and served in the US Army during the Civil War. His prior surname was Charles South, taken from his owner, but changed the surname the Walden, his father's name, after the war. I know that he was in Bowling Green MO in 1870 and then there is a blank until he appears at Sedalia MO as a physician in 1910. I would like to find out how he became a doctor, where he went to school, whether he had children, etc. His wife's name was Lucy (Taylor) Walden, 1861 Saline MO-1932 Sedalia MO. Thanks.
