Finding Your Roots on PBS
FIRST of all, I am thanking everybody responding to my messages/answers/questions on this forum, especially "decmay" thanks.
Henry Louis GATES, JR., has a 10 part series on PBS, starting 25 March 2012, on FINDING YOUR ROOTS.
He is addicted to genealogy since having his family tree done a few years back.
This series is just NOT on famous blacks but famous/celebrities-period.
Some of the family trees that were done:Kevin BACON---Branford MARSALIS---Harry CONNICK, JR.,---Barbara WALTERS---Condoleezza RICE----Congressman John LEWIS, etc....
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
He has a DVD titled AFRICAN AMERICAN LIVES that I give (free of charge)to anyone of black descent, in my area, because they show a interest in researching their family trees.
I also type up the steps of how to begin their research.
I want them to FEEL the human side of their ancestors and, to get a refresher course in history.
Maybe in this way they can CONNECT emotionally to their ancestors in a human way.
I want them to see their ancestors as people, not just statistics.
This DVD can also give you hints on other documents to research.
