Benjamin SULLIVAN c. 1878 - 1938; Seeking Clues

Hi, List Members,

I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts or ideas about how to learn more about my great-grandfather, Benjamin SULLIVAN.

What I know

Based on census information and my grandmother’s birth certificate, he was born in Missouri between 1878 and 1881

In the 1900 census, he was a boarder in a home in Snohomish County, Washington. He was working as a laborer and his place of birth was given as Colorado (there was a ‘mulatto’ Ben Sullivan who served 2 years for burglary in Colorado, released in 1898. He was 17 when he was sentenced, making his birth year 1879)

He married Margaret MONROE in Snohomish County, Washington in 1910

He had three children with Margaret

He died in Seattle, King County, Washington on 9 March 1938 from False Pneumonia. He was listed as about 60 years, making him born about 1878. No parent’s names are listed on the death certificate (or the death notice in the paper), however, his place of birth is listed as Sedalia, Missouri.

There is no one still living who would know anything about Benjamin

I’ve done some 1880 census searches and seem to come up empty handed. I found one Benjamin Sullivan born in the ‘right’ time frame living in Texas

What I am wondering

Based on this information, is it likely I will learn anything more about Benjamin?

I’d love to somehow learn who Benjamin’s parents were, not sure if that is now possible

Where should I look for additional clues about Benjamin?
