Hi Anne,
Grasping at straws here as I enter my 14th year of research on my WEEDEN, WEELDON/BROWN AA/Native family line
of SC, NC and VA---------I have yet to make ANY connections, nor has ANYONE acknowledged kinship to my line.
Know that the WEEDEN/WEEDON spelling is included among 26 various spellings that I am working with, and have seen it in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi, but still fail to connect.
I do know that my ggrandfather, WM LAWRENCE WEELDON, Black,
was born in 1829 SC and believe that he was a slave of the
WHEELDON/WHILDEN family of Sumter and Christ Church, SC.
My ggrandmother, CHARATA BROWN, mulatto, was born in 1833 NC, but I find NO info on Her or Her line.
The family is first found in 1870 Wilmington, NC.
Have requested help from AFRIGENEAS and USFAFRICA staffs but they too, can find no connections.
Wondering (hoping) you might have any advice as to how I should proceed next?
Sincerely,
carol wheeldin warren.
