French service records exist

I was recently informed by Suzanne that these records do exist. She personally, went to the military archives in Paris, France and looked through the actual records of the Royal Roussillon Regiment of the Seven Years War. She said that these records are only available there and are NOT yet on microfilm. The archives itself didn't do research at the time, but they can recommend a reputable researcher there. Also, they don't allow records to be photocopied.

Suzanne said this was a few years ago so the rules might have changed. Perhaps the records have been or are being microfilmed. If not, perhaps we all can stir up some interest in getting this done.

I plan to look into this myself, but right now I have a lot going on and my time is spread very thin. It will be almost winter again before I wrap up everything I've got going right now.

Here is a link to the military archives in Paris, France:

Good luck. And please let me know if you learn anything further about these records.
